latest call - 2/21

So, J called me Thursday night :)! Prolly cuz I had sent him a very to-the-point email hinting around that I needed a phone call or email. He sounded really good - ready to come home! He said their team cpt, Rick, was being sent home because his time was up and they were getting a new one. Only a few more months!!! He said there is a possibility they wont have to go again next year but we all know how that goes... we dont hold our breath :) The weather's still kinda crappy so they havent received any mail lately. I told him he was probably going to get a lot of things at once when he did finally get mail. I know I have two packages out there in army snail mail land. He hurt his ankle when he rolled an atv over. He said he was on crutches for a little while hoping it would heal faster but it's still kinda sore. The guys are all doing well, staying really busy, going on a lot of missions. He said they had a lot going on this week and some unexpected ones last week. Welp, that's all for now. Oh, Charlotte & John, I told him to not call me next time he got a free moment and to call you guys instead. I lectured him for a good second or two about not calling home! ::sigh:: crazy boy.

Hi there sugar bunns... what's my sweet pea been up to? We've been busy little bees here; between football games, fixing up things around here and getting myself hurt... yup I did it again:-( I had a little accident yesterday, I rolled an atv. It's not that bad though, I just bruised my ankle pretty good. I've been on crutches in hopes that it will heal quicker. I think it hurt my pride more than anything:-) So, anyways, do you have big plans for valentines day? How's my sugar bunns doing? Are you feeling better? I finally got the pictures you sent... cute puffy eyes:-) Have you gone back to work already? We've been kinda stuck in limbo here... the weather has been really crappy, lots of rain and a little snow. It was pretty cool to wake up yesterday morning and seeing all of the mountains around us covered in snow. I took some pictures I'll have to email them to you when I get them down loaded... Everything around here is a muddy mess though. I got woken up yesterday by a leak in my roof:-( Have I mentioned that this place sucks!!!! Ok, enough whining from me. Dec 11th Update

Things have been ok here... I've been extremely busy with several projects I have going on... We're gonna break ground today on a bridge I designed... We are almost done with a levy that we put in in a near by town... And I've almost finished the plans for a mosque to be built. Not to mention... we've been dealing with a pretty steady flow of patients in the clinic. I figured things would slow down here since it's starting to get cold out but I haven't seen any signs of that happening... The guys are all doing well. Everyones got there own little projects going on to keep themselves busy.I think the cold weather has an effect on our internet and phone lines... It seems like everything goes down for atleast 3/4 of the day, very annoying!!! I tried calling you a couple of times yesterday but our phones were all sorts of screwed up. I'm gonna try again later on today, I hope I get to hear your voice sweets.I miss you so much! I haven't been able to sleep hardly at all the past few nights:-( I don't know what the deal is. Probably just have lots on my mind... like you!!! :-) I can't wait to spend next christmas with you!!! Oh yeah, I've decided that I'm gonna take you skiing next december too... hope you don't mind:-)Well, I have to get going... December 5th Update

Hi there sweet pea, I hope you're having a fabulous day!?! Things have been ok here today, I got to go outside and play for a little while... that was nice. But then I had to sit back down in front of the stupid computer and type my little fingers to the bone:-( I attached a picture that one of my friends took of me today playing:-) I got a little mail today:-)... I got a letter from my grandma, a package from your mom, and a package from you!!!!! The Hooters t-shirt was too cute... I think it would look better on you though!!;-) Your mom sent a really sweet card and all kinds of goodies:-) I still haven't had a chance to give her a call yet...:-( I will though, don't you worry!Well peanut butter, I hope you have a wonderful night!

This email had a pic attached and it was so cute! I cant post it on here but I can forward it to you if you're interested. His hair is so long and he has facial hair!!! My eyes welled up in tears the moment I saw it. - guess it just caught me off guard to get a picture - It's good to see him :)

December 3rd Email

So, do you have any Christmas decorations up? A couple of us have a few decorations up in our rooms... Morgan, he has some lights stung up... Stoney's got a little christmas tree up.... I don't have anything up yet, I'm gonna have to make something though. You would have laughed, yesterday I was in this village, there were tons of kids around. I was trying to teach them the words to "jingle bells". I think one of the guys got it on video I'm gonna have to check. Obviously the kids had no idea what they were singing but they thought it was absolutely hilarious:-) We were gone for a couple days, boy does this place need work. It's starting to get cold outside, and stay cold all day. We actually got some snow up in the mountains a couple of days ago but it just rained in the low growned where we are. It's kinda cool to look out and see snow capped mountains though... kinda makes me want a coors light:-) he he he...Are you all ready for the wedding? Remember, send me lots of pictures, mostly of you!!!! I'm selfish lke that:-) Well, I bess get back to work...I love you sooo much sweetie!!!Jason

Well, I think it's thursday here, I'm not too sure though. We got to manas around 4 in the moourning and it is cold here:-( I't's actuallly a pretty nice place, the food is decent anyways! I'm so confused as to what day and time it is... I sure miss you sweetie. I can't tell you how many times I flipped through the pictures you put on the I-pod for me, yet another fantastic idea of yours!!! I have to email my mom and brother so I'm gonna get going... I'll try to get back on here after dinner...

October 14th Email

Hi there sweetie!!! It sure felt good to hear your voice this morning, I miss you soo much!!! It sucks that we don't get that much time on the phone, but I understand, there's always a waiting line. It's been pretty cool running into some of my buddies who went to seventh group and are waiting to go home. All in all I would have to say that everyone is in high spirits. I wish you could see this place, it's like a different planet. I never realized how small Afghani people are... holly third world country batman:-) So, have you been thinking about a vacation spot for us when I get back? I'm thinking somewhere that serves cold beer and margaritas!!! I sure can't wait to talk to you again... If we don't leave in the morning I'll try to give you another call then.

October 15th Email

I'm sorry I wasn't able to call you this morning... I got woke up at 4 am this morning and told to grab my stuff and get on a plane, and I said "OK" :-) So, I'm finally in my little part of the world, YIPPY! (just a little sarcasm there!) You know sweets, I can already feel that talking to you and getting emails from you is what's gonna get me through this deployment... I can't wait to hear from you!!! October 16th Email

We've been keeping busy here, unpacking, setting up etc... The culture here is very strange. Everyone seems very nice and polite to your face but they have no problems steeling from you and lying straight to you. It's hard to pick up on who you can trust! Oh, there are gay muslims, alot of them! Apparently it's ok in their culture as long as you don't admit it... weird!!! Well sweetie I have to get going, the games gonna start here in one or two min.

October 27th Email

Well hi there sweet pea!!! We finally got the internet thing figured out, knock on wood! Guess what I got yesterday... a package from you and one from your mom, I even got a post card from Laura. I tell you what, that was just what I needed!!! Thankyou so much! Will you thank your mom and sister for me too...It's been a long semi-crappy week. We've had some patients come into our clinic that have exhausted both Matt and myself. The worst is when the little kids are brought in, it's really difficult to see these little tikes in the condition they're brought to us. I've been keeping a journal of my days here so that you will know in a little more detail what my days are like....

November 1st Email

The past few days have been quite frustrating... This is probably the tenth time I've tried to email you and the fifth time I've tried to call. I guess internet and phone just suck here and that's the way it is:-( But have no fear, I'm very persistant! We've been extremely busy in our clinic for about the past week, treating the locals for all of their aillments. Unfortunately, I haven't had the opportunity to put on the old catchers mit and snag me a new born yet... I have seen some pretty crazy stuff though. Tomorrow's gonna be another busy day... We're gonna watch Football all day tomorrow, I believe the games start at around 1 am... YIPPY!!!

November 12th Email

It has been one long crazy week. We've been watching football game after football game, at the oddest hours too... then, when we weren't doing that we were building stuff. I don't think I've ever shouveled so much dirt in my life!!! Atleast the weather's been nice, it'll get into the eighties during the day but then it really drops down and gets cold at night...

A Little Slow...

I don't know why it took me nearly 2 months to do this (probably because my sister just suggested it) but thankfully she did because I think it'll be helpful. When I get a chance I'll update this blog with email updates that I have received so far. Keep checking because I will do my best to update it every time I hear from Jason. Thank you all for your support. I couldn't get through these 6 months without you!
